The Tracy to Redding drive should be a normal cakewalk. I do not think you will hit snow until Burney or thereabouts. I like the I-5 route because it keeps you out of the snow for over half of your drive. Taking that to Alturus & then hooking into #395 and only be an hours drive from your destination. Google maps is suggesting that going to Weed & Hwy #97 will add 40 miles to your trip so you may want to consider their alternative route which is cutting Northeast in Redding, Calif at Hwy #299.
